PADI Oxygen Provider

Be the one ready to help a fellow diver should the need arise by becoming a PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider.

The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty course is an entry-level emergency oxygen course that also teaches you how to recognize dive illnesses treatable by emergency oxygen.

The DAN oxygen unit is a great tool you will learn to use

Though suited for divers, this course has no prerequisites and doesn’t include dives, which means it is equally applicable to those who are around divers – boat crew, nondiving buddies, lifeguards, and shore staff.

You don’t need any previous CPR or first aid training to take the course.

This course represents entry level training designed to educate you in recognizing possible scuba dive related injuries and providing emergency oxygen first aid with the DAN oxygen unit while activating the local emergency medical services (EMS) and/or arranging for evacuation to the nearest available medical facility.

Less than 33% of injured divers received emergency oxygen in the field due to DAN.

Few of those received oxygen concentrations approaching the recommended 100%. All major scuba diving agencies recommend that all divers be qualified to provide 100% oxygen in the field to those injured in a dive accident.

Minimum Hours of Training are: Knowledge Development about 1 Hour plus Skills Development (Practice) for about 3 hours.

You must be familiar with the signs and symptoms of major diving injuries including near drowning and decompression illnesses (arterial gas embolism and decompression sickness).
